Countries

As well as full country programmes, the IGC has also provided rapid response and policy advice to Uganda and Afghanistan.

Afghanistan

The government of Afghanistan has expressed strong interest in the potential for the IGC to provide support on the development of the country’s growth policies. The IGC organised a workshop in response to this demand which took place in March 2010 and featured discussions on supply- and demand-side issues in the drug economy, financial and information services, management of mineral resources, land titling, the construction sector, Special Economic Zones, women in the economy, and labour and wage issues.

The IGC looks forward to further discussions with the government of Afghanistan in the months ahead.

Uganda

The IGC has provided a rapid response to Uganda on oil revenue management.

Call for Proposals: Survey of the Literature on Successful Strategies and Practices for Export Promotion by Developing Countries

The IGC is issuing a call for proposals to do research surveying the literature and evidence on successful strategies and practices for export promotion by developing countries. Joint proposals of two or more authors will be acceptable. The paper will be presented in a workshop of stakeholders in Sierra Leone. Policy Priorities for Afghanistan

IGC hosted a workshop on Afghanistan on March 19th, 2010. The workshop was organized in response to strong interest expressed by the government of Afghanistan in the potential for the IGC to provide support, particularly on the development of the country’s growth policies. The workshop aimed to identify key areas that are policy priorities for the Afghan government, to which the IGC may add value by providing evidence-based policy advice.
