India - State of Bihar

The IGC India-Bihar Programme began with a Bihar Growth Day Workshop on December 17, 2009 when the Government of Bihar invited the IGC to come to Bihar and help sustain growth in the Bihar economy. The IGC India-Bihar programme has identified two key research areas through an ongoing consultation process with policy stakeholders and researchers - Economic Transformation and Resource Mobilisation. The IGC programme in Bihar currently focuses on five key sectors: agriculture, education, finance/commercial tax, health, and water resources. Having identified these focus areas, a variety of products - rapid response notes, research and analytical work, training and dissemination workshops, and events - were and are being commissioned to fulfill the need for independent, policy-oriented academic research in Bihar.
