Mozambique

Mozambique is a rare example of a successful post-conflict recovery and economic takeoff. From 1992 to 2006, growth averaged 7.8 percent, the highest in Africa over that period for a non-oil producing country. GDP growth remained robust even during the financial crisis, at 6.8 percent in 2008 and estimated at 6 percent in 2009. Mozambique’s macroeconomic policies have been well-managed, attracting investments into mega-projects. The Government of Mozambique now aims to achieve double digit growth.

The IGC held initial talks with the Government of Mozambique in March 2010 and hopes to formulate a work programme in the coming months.
