Policy workshop on export promotion and local content in Uganda

As Uganda seeks to boost its export competitiveness and deepen value addition by domestic industry and services, the International Growth Centre (IGC) co-hosted a policy workshop on Export Promotion and Local Content in Uganda, in partnership with the Ugandan Ministry of Trade, Industry & Cooperatives (MTIC). This two-hour session was an opportunity to enhance the policy proposals advanced by the draft National Export Development Strategy and the ‘Buy Uganda Build Uganda’ policy, by drawing on recent research findings. A purpose was be to contribute to a collaborative agenda that the IGC could implement, as part of its efforts to support the two programmes. The audience was composed of government officials and staff, the donor community, and the academic and business private sector.
