Past Event Lusaka, Zambia Firms

The IGC is funding Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) to undertake a study in Chipata, the Eastern Province of Zambia.

The study is an analysis of the drivers of rural labor supply and agricultural productivity. The study also trying to establish why small-scale farms fail to achieve higher yields and how this can be mitigated through research informed policy. Working with the University of Zambia, whose researchers are also part of the study. More information on this project can be found on this presentation given at Growth Week 2014.

IGC Zambia will hosted a seminar to present the findings of the study thus far. The seminar drew on Zambian academics and policy makers to discuss the paper at the current stage of the study. While the study is on-going, it is envisaged that this gathering will provoke policy debate and will bring out insights useful to help the research team continue building the research concept.
