Hosted by the Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA), this workshop brought policy-makers and local and international researchers together to share research results and policy recommendations from the IGC’s work as well as SLIEPA’s work over the past year on export promotion in Sierra Leone.
Michele Di Maio, co-author of “Survey of the literature on successful strategies and practices for export promotion by developing countries” and " Sierra Leone’s National Export Strategy: Implementation Issues and Recommendations" presented recommendations for the implementation of Sierra Leone’s National Export Strategy to SLIEPA and other stakeholders. He also discussed international experience with export promotion.
SLIPEA and other stakeholders also presented their experience and the general progress with implementing the National Export Strategy (NES) of the Sierra Leone Government and the challenges faced thus far.
Dr. Omotunde Johnson, Country Director for IGC Sierra Leone also presented his thoughts on export promotion in Africa.
The event increased the IGC's knowledge of policy-maker demands, and also strengthened linkages between the policy-makers and local and international researchers.
