Ambrish Dongre

Ambrish Dongre has been a fellow at the Centre for Policy Research (CPR), New Delhi since March 2014. His primary research interests are health and education. Currently, he is exploring role of private tutoring in provision of elementary education, and analysis of implementation of government programs to improve learning outcomes in primary classes in government schools.Previously, he was with the Accountability Initiative (AI), based at CPR, and led its quantitative research, including sample design and data analysis. He also played a key role in design of survey instruments. At AI, he led a study of 20 Gram Panchayats in Birbhum, West Bengal to track the flow of funds at Gram Panchayat level, titled Do GPs get their Money? He was instrumental in bringing out one of the flagship publications of AI, PAISA Report, for three consecutive years, 2010-2012. He continues to be associated with AI as a senior researcher.He obtained a PhD in economics from University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) in July 2010, and a Master's in economics from the University of Mumbai.
