Anjan Mukherji retired as the Reserve Bank of India Professor of Economic Theory at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in July 2010 after teaching there for thirty seven years. He is currently the Jawaharlal Nehru National Fellow and is associated with the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy in New Delhi during the duration of the Fellowship. He has previously held positions at the London School of Economics, Cornell University as well as at the University of Tsukuba and Osaka University, both in Japan. He has been consultant in projects funded by the Commonwealth Secretariat, the World Institute of Development Economics Research (WIDER) and the Steel Authority of India Ltd. A native of Bihar, he continues his close association with the Asian Development Research Institute and the Centre for Economic Policy and Public Finance, Patna, Bihar.
