Ann Harrison is a Professor of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of California, Berkeley and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. She received her BA from UC Berkeley and a PhD from Princeton University. She was in the Young Professional Program at the World Bank, and previously taught at Harvard and Columbia University. She provides policy advice to international and non-profit organizations, such as the World Bank. Her research is in the area of international trade, foreign investment, and economic development. She has analyzed the impact of globalization on domestic labor markets, the linkages between productivity and trade reform, and the impact of foreign investment on host countries. She has recently completed a book, Globalization and Poverty, for the National Bureau of Economic Research. Her publications have appeared in top economic journals, including the American Economic Review, the Journal of Labor Economics, the Journal of Development Economics, the Journal of International Economics, The Review of Economics and Statistics and others. Her latest research analyzes the anti-sweatshop movement, the determinants of national labor shares, and the impact of outsourcing on US jobs.
