Doug Gollin is Professor of Economics at Williams College in Massachusetts and for 2008-09 will be Visiting Professor of Economics at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. His research focuses on economic growth and development, with particular interests in agriculture. Much of his theoretical research uses dynamic general equilibrium models to explore the large-scale economic impacts of development interventions such as improved agricultural technologies, investments in rural infrastructure, or disease eradication. His empirical work includes detailed examinations of crop variety adoption and the impacts of agricultural research. He has worked in Africa and Asia; most recently, he has written on the relationship between agricultural productivity increases, economic growth, and poverty reduction. He has published in leading journals in economics, and he currently serves as associate editor of Agricultural Economics. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and holds a master’s degree from Yale University and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota.
