Mounir Siaplay

Mounir Siaplay is the Deputy Minister for Economic Management in the Government of Liberia. Prior to this he was an IGC Country Economist in Liberia.

Previously, Mounir Siaplay was a lecturer at Oklahoma State University teaching Principles of Microeconomics, Managerial Economics, Money and Banking, and Economics of Sport. He was also a research assistant at North Dakota State University and Oklahoma State University, working and publishing on a range of topics from price volatility and hedging strategies in the wheat market, to economics of food safety, and the impact of social cash transfers on youth labour force participation, schooling, and sexual behaviours. Outside of academia, Mounir worked as an isurance risk analyst for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota, freight bill analyst for Val Spar Corporation in Minnesota, and as a summer intern banker for Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union in Minnesota. Mounir earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Oklahoma State University, MSc in Agribusiness and Applied Economics from North Dakota State University, and B.A. in Economics and International Relations from Concordia College. His research interests are: Development Economics and Applied Econometrics.
