Dr. Nasiruddin Ahmed joined the Institute for Governance Studies on 3rd January, 2013 as a Part-Time Faculty (Professor). Prior to joining IGS, he was the Secretary, Internal Resources Division, Ministry of Finance and Chairman, National Board of Revenue. He also worked for the Government in Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Rural Electrification Board, Economic Relations Division, Prime Minister’s Office, Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre and he taught a course in Economics and Politics in South Asia at the University of Sydney, Australia. He has consultancy experiences in a number of places such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, World Health Organization, UNICEF, UNESCO and AME Mineral Economics, Sydney, Australia. He is currently engaged in part-time teaching in Economics at Jahangirnagar University and East West University, Dhaka. He also teaches Masters in Governance and Development Program at IGS.

Dr. Ahmed holds PhD in Economics from the University of Sydney, Australia and Masters in Public Sector Management Training and Development Economics from the American University, Washington, D.C. USA. He has authored a number of papers in Economics published in international journals like Applied Economics, Applied Economics Letters, Public Administration and Development and Indian Economic Review.
