Call for papers: Early-Career Researchers Workshop

PEDL will host a half-day workshop (10 September 2026, Yale) for early-career researchers in firms, trade, and development. Submit work-in-progress or full papers by 1 June. Selected participants receive feedback and funded travel.

We are pleased to announce that PEDL will hold a half-day workshop for early-career researchers on the morning of September 10, 2026, as part of the “Firms, Trade, and Development” conference hosted by the IGC and the Yale Economic Growth Center (EGC) on September 10 and 11, 2026. Both events will take place in person, at Yale University in New Haven, CT, USA. 

The workshop aims to bring together a community of junior researchers who work on firms, trade, and development. Participants would have already obtained their PhD but do not yet have tenure (or are within 8 years of their PhD, if not in a tenure-track position). They will also be invited to attend the main conference.

We are accepting submissions for both work-in-progress or full presentations for 25-min talks due by Monday, 1 June, 2026 at 23:59 EDT (GMT-4):

  1. Work-in-Progress – These talks should be about work at a piloting, experimental design, or preliminary analysis stage. Submissions should include an approximately 2-page description of the project and its current stage of progress.
  2. Full Presentations – These talks should be about completed work, ready for a standard conference presentation. Submissions should be a full paper draft.

Participants will have the opportunity to get feedback from other presenters, participants, as well as attending senior researchers in the PEDL-IGC-EGC network. Funding for travel and accommodation will be provided to all presenters. As budget allows, we also hope to cover accommodation for those staying for the main conference.

  4. Under "Apply to Attend" click "Yes"
  5. Tick the boxes that apply to you
  6. Tick "Would you like to submit a paper?", upload your paper and supply the requested information *You can submit additional papers, or use this option to submit the paper to more than one theme
  7. Click "Submit form" to make the submission.
