Authority in African cities
Project Active from to Sustainable Growth, Cities and Cities that Work
African cities face challenges of limited local government capacity. This project codifies legislation to systematically measure authority in African cities, tracking changes from 1994-2024 across eight countries. It provides the first cross-country measure of urban authority, guiding central and local governments to improve governance strategies in African cities.
