Bridging the gap between research and policy: The effect of early stakeholder engagement on academic and policy outcomes
This project seeks to help improve reporting frameworks used to assess the impact of policy research.
Considerable amounts of development assistance funding are invested in impact evaluation research, with the stated objective of driving forward the use of evidence in policymaking, ultimately improving the social return of development spending and promoting growth.
Institutional donors have developed reporting frameworks to assess the performance of their impact evaluation portfolio against these goals. The policy objective of this study is to improve these reporting frameworks by:
i) Providing rigorous evidence documenting mechanisms through which research findings translate into policy decisions.
ii) Establishing a data collection infrastructure enabling the consistent and systematic capture of key project characteristics throughout the lifetime of research projects.
