Cultivating cooperation: The impact of formalising land rental contracts on refugee-host interactions and agricultural production in rural Uganda

Project Active from to Sustainable Growth, State Effectiveness and State Fragility initiative

This project investigates whether formalising land rental contracts between refugee tenants and landlords can improve tenure security, agricultural investment, and refugee-host relations. Conducted across 60 Ugandan villages, the randomised evaluation compares formal and informal agreements, examining their impact on food security, social cohesion, and economic integration.
