Designing a waste management strategy for municipal solid waste in Addis Ababa
This project examines the current waste collection payment system in Addis Ababa, which lacks incentives for waste reduction because it is based on water consumption rather than waste generation. The project identifies proxies for waste generation and determines the elasticity of waste generation to these variables. Then, it evaluates interventions to improve household waste segregation at source, assessing the effectiveness of these interventions in changing household disposal behaviour.
