Disentangling the costs of meter sharing: Experimental evidence from Ethiopia

Meter sharing in low-income urban areas reduces costs but also hinders energy transition and contributes to tenant-landlord disputes. Using a randomised controlled trial conducted in Addis Ababa, this project explores whether a consumption monitoring device and short coordination video can resolve billing challenges, improve landlord-tenant trust, and enhance welfare.
