Fostering the transition from small to large scale production in Uganda
Project Active from to Firms, Trade, Firm capabilities, productivity and Firm performance
This project investigates barriers to firm growth in Uganda's manufacturing sector through a three wave panel survey of 1,000 small firms in carpentry, welding and grain milling. By exploring demand and supply side constraints including market access, capacity underutilisation and labour organisation, the study aims to inform industrial policy and support Uganda’s broader structural transformation efforts.
