Illegal small-scale mining, known as “galamsey,” presents severe environmental challenges in Ghana, including water pollution and land degradation. This project examines the role of specialised “Galamsey Courts” as key state agents and the complex social and economic interdependencies that impact their effective delivery of environmental rule of law in the small-scale mining sector.
