Maximising the impact of aid on civilian protection during conflict: A field experiment among Palestinian refugees from Gaza in Egypt
Alleviating hunger can boost mental health, increase labour market participation, and reduce reliance on negative coping strategies. However, alleviating hunger in contexts shaped by gender norms may worsen gender inequality and cause negative welfare shifts, and in refugee settings, it could impact group solidarity. This project, in partnership with the Egyptian Food Bank, evaluates two hunger alleviation interventions – e-vouchers and volunteering opportunities – focusing on food security, health, labour supply, and political beliefs.
