The impact of smart meters on firm performance, reliability, and utility revenue: Experimental evidence from Ethiopia
Project Active from to Sustainable Growth and Energy
This project examines whether smart metering technologies can improve electricity reliability, reduce theft, and boost performance among Ethiopia’s small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Firm performance, utility revenue, and environmental benefits are measured using a randomised controlled trial conducted in collaboration with the Ethiopian Electricity Utility.
