The effect of incentive structures on driver behaviour and urban road safety: Evidence from minibuses in Addis Ababa
Project Active from to Sustainable Growth and Cities
Poor road safety is a pervasive issue across cities in sub-Saharan Africa. Using vehicle monitoring devices, this project explores potentially scalable interventions to incentivise safer driving amongst informal minibus drivers in Addis Ababa. These include awarding bonuses to the safest drivers and revealing drivers' individual safety scores within their minibus association.
