Market power of firms in Uganda

Project Active from 1 Apr 2024 to 30 Sep 2025

Market power can be a hindrance to economic growth if it is prevalent among firms in low- and middle-income countries. This project explores the average markup and profit rate among Ugandan firms (and their distributions), examining how these measures evolved between 2013 and 2022 to investigate whether market power affects competition and economic growth.
