Municipal taxation and urban development

Project Active from 25 Mar 2024 to 30 Nov 2025 Cities and Sustainable Growth

This project examines how reducing tax compliance costs affects the intensive and extensive margins of tax compliance, and how this shapes urban development. Carried out in partnership with the governments of Maputo and Matola, it involves a randomised controlled trial to evaluate the short-, medium- and long-term impacts of a large-scale reform to tax payments.
