“The nature of the firm” revisited: Documenting relational contracts within and between firms in Uganda

Project Active from to Firms and Firm capabilities

This project aims to understand why manufacturing firms in sub-Saharan Africa prefer external relational contracts over internal ones, positing that external contracts yield greater payoffs with less uncertainty. The study collects data from businesses in the tailoring, welding, and carpentry sector in Kampala, Uganda, to quantify the benefits of cooperation versus integration.
