Optimising public transport systems for developing megacities through networks and fare pricing
Project Active from to Sustainable Growth and Cities
This project aims to increase public transport ridership by optimising bus network design and fare pricing strategies in Jakarta, Indonesia. The project will implement model-suggested network modifications while surveying transportation workers to determine how their understanding compares to the model. The project will also research fare subsidies to determine optimal fare pricing, measuring the potential tradeoff (or complementarities) between strategies that boost overall ridership vs. targeting low-income commuters.
