The socio-economic impact of water scarcity: Evidence from Jordan
Project Active from to Sustainable Growth and Energy
In Jordan, piped water is only provided on water days, sometimes just once per week. This project provides causal evidence of the effect of this water scarcity on a wide range of households’ socio-economic outcomes, including time use; mental health, stress, and violence; labour market outcomes and productivity; children’s educational performances and aspirations; and cooperation and risk-sharing (or lack thereof) amongst social groups.
