Solarising agriculture: Estimating the economic returns to solar irrigation pumps in Bangladesh

This study embeds a randomised controlled trial into Bangladesh’s national solar irrigation pump (SIP) rollout to evaluate how different financing and ownership models affect adoption, usage, and maintenance. It also examines the broader impacts of SIP access on agricultural productivity, groundwater use, farmer income, and local labour markets, offering insights for scaling sustainable irrigation technologies and cooperative farming models.
