Trading trash and recyclables on tricycles
Project Active from to Sustainable Growth and Cities
In sub-Saharan Africa, informal waste collection markets have emerged to address the inefficiencies of government-backed systems, but they still face significant challenges. This project aims to improve these markets through an intervention linking informal waste collectors to a formal recycling firm and encouraging households to separate waste. The project then evaluates the impact of the intervention on separation rates, collection prices, collection rates, and neighbourhood cleanliness.
