Cleaning up: The economics of urban waste recycling in developing countries
Project Active from to Sustainable Growth, Cities and Waste
This project pilots interventions in Lahore, Pakistan, to address trash collection and disposal inefficiencies by formalising informal workers' collaboration with the state, enhancing storage, technology, and recycling, and creating value for compost. It evaluates impacts on waste efficiency, public health, environmental issues, worker welfare, and citizen satisfaction, informing the design of a larger-scale experiment.
