The value of reliable electricity: The impact of load shedding mitigation on property prices in Cape Town
This project estimates the value of reliable electricity in Cape Town by comparing house prices in areas protected from load shedding with those that are not. Using a spatial regression discontinuity design, it quantifies economic benefits, distributional effects and implications for inequality and municipal finance.
