Waste management practices and plastic pollution in Uganda
Poorly managed waste in Kampala disproportionately affects low-income communities, with open dumping and burning creating health, environmental, and economic problems. A pilot project with Yo-Waste provides on-demand waste pickup to households in slums to evaluate how varying treatment intensity at the village level can improve waste management and reduce harmful externalities.
