Water pricing in Cape Town

Project Active from 14 Jul 2025 to 14 Mar 2026 Cities, Sustainable Growth, water and sanitation, Consumer behaviour, urban development and Cities that Work

Through a survey experiment delivering information interventions on water prices and the city’s water supply, the project aims to analyse the welfare impacts of in-kind transfers during an environmental crisis in Cape Town - and to understand why its low-income households are so price-inelastic in their water consumption.
