Workshop on programmes for poverty alleviation and inclusive growth: International and Myanmar experience

Economic growth by itself does not reduce poverty. Experience of many developing countries underscores the important role of targeted programmes in poverty alleviation and in making economic growth more inclusive. The Myanmar Development Institute (MDI), International Growth Centre (IGC), and Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) are co-hosting an event on programmes for poverty alleviation and inclusive growth.

The event aims to bring together thought leaders from academia and government, policymakers, and practitioners to discuss the international experience and evidence on targeted poverty alleviation programmes and its implications for the Myanmar context. In the course of the day, international and national speakers will discuss programs in five areas: graduation, financial inclusion, cash transfers, employment guarantee, and community-driven development programmes.
