Public Lecture: IGC Bangladesh Phase II Launch Lecture

The IGC Bangladesh Research Programme organized a Launch Event on Saturday, 22 March 2014, 3.30 pm, at the BRAC Centre Inn Auditorium,BRAC Centre (2nd Floor), 75 Mohakhali, Dhaka.

Professor Jonathan Leape, London School of Economics and Executive Director, IGC, introduced IGC's work, research areas and and vision of embedding frontier economic research into policy. Professor Robin Burgess, London School of Economics, Director, IGC, talked about the expansion of economic opportunities in South Asia. The first part of the lecture focussed on the findings of the IGC research on BRAC's 'Challenging the Frontiers of Poverty Reduction Targeting the Ultra Poor' programme. The second part of the lecture was centred on the liberalisation episodes in South Asia and the case of how unleashing market forces can further expand economic opportunities in Bangladesh.
