Report Launch For 'Natural Resources and Subnational Governments in Myanmar: Key Considerations for Wealth Sharing'

Past Event Yangon, Myanmar State

On 17th June 2014 IGC-Myanmar, in partnership with the Myanmar Development Resource Institute – Centre for Economic and Social Development (MDRI-CESD) and The Asia Foundation, held a launch event for the fourth volume of the Subnational Governance in Myanmar Discussion Paper Series, which aims to inform future analysis of the potential risks and benefits of changes to the role of subnational governments.

This paper, 'Natural Resources and Subnational Governments in Myanmar: Key Considerations for Wealth Sharing', provides an overview of state and regional governments’ roles in natural resource governance, highlighting the mining, oil and gas, timber, and hydropower sectors.

Mari Oye wrote a column on this in yesterday's Myanmar Times, which is available here.
