Seminar: Managing Oil for All – A High-Level Roundtable on Oil Governance

Good governance and regulation of oil are public goods that benefit all the actors involved in the oil industry. However, in producing or exploring countries which have weak institutions and a challenging political landscape, these public goods have often been in short supply.

Using Liberia and other emerging countries a case study, this roundtable, organised with the National Oil Company of Liberia and the Natural Resource Charter, brought together an unusual and unprecedented mix of leading thinkers and doers from the industry, academia and government to look at how closing the governance gap will require new efforts at collaboration from all stakeholders in the oil sector – governments, the private sector, and the public.

Anchoring the discussion were be several high profile speakers/participants from various sectors, including:

  • Paul Collier – Professor of Economics and Public Policy, Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford
