Workshop: Evaluation of Kisan Credit Card Scheme in Bihar (Areendam Chanda)

Areendam Chanda presented the objective, methodology and findings of the study:‘Evaluating the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) Scheme: Some Results for Bihar and India’. This was an opportunity for the policy-makers who had requested that the IGC Bihar programme commission the project, to attend and provide feedback on it. In attendance were Mrs. N. Vijayalaxmi, IAS, Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Government of Bihar and Mr Anup Mukerji, Former Chief Secretary, Government of Bihar. The Kisan Credit Scheme provides support from the banking system to farmers in India for their short-term credit needs for the cultivation of crops. This mainly helps farmers purchase certain inputs during the cropping season.
