Workshop: Industrialising Africa – Strategies for Competitive Manufacturing

At the AfDB Annual Meeting in Lusaka, IGC held a side event on African industrialisation, presenting recent top research in the sector. By discussing evidence-based options to stimulate manufacturing firm growth and job creation, the session targeted senior African policymakers who were attending the AfDB meeting, aimed to influence their thinking on industrial policy, and strengthened linkages between IGC and these policymakers to encourage further collaboration.

The panel, chaired by Sir Paul Collier (University of Oxford, IGC), presented recent research findings on Africa industrialisation strategies and discussed what is needed to reverse the negative manufacturing trend and get African industry to grow.
