Data for Policy Workshop

Upcoming Event From to Inclusive Growth

This workshop aims to empower policymakers with the skills and knowledge necessary to integrate data into the policymaking process. It is a flagship initiative of the Zambia Evidence Lab (ZEL), developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and National Planning (MoFNP). Recognising the growing importance of evidence-based governance, the workshop is designed to foster a culture of data-driven decision-making across government institutions.

The primary objectives of the workshop are to introduce participants to foundational concepts of data-informed policymaking, to familiarise participants with key data sources and structures, and to showcase practical applications through real-world cases from Zambia and beyond. By providing a non-technical and accessible framework, the workshop seeks to demystify the role of data in crafting impactful policies while highlighting its potential to address complex development challenges.

Targeted primarily at policymakers, planners, and mid-level officials within the MoFNP, the workshop will also eventually extend to other ministries and government agencies. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of how data can enhance policy design, monitoring, and evaluation. They will also gain insights into leveraging local and international data resources to improve governance outcomes. This initiative underscores ZEL’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacity and supporting Zambia’s journey toward evidence-based governance.

The event is invite-only.
