Developing Impact Research – Rigorous Methods and Funding Strategies
The International Growth Centre (IGC-LSE), in partnership with AMECON, CEEG (UEM) and CEPES (UZ), presents a Research Capacity Building Workshop for researchers, teachers and postgraduate students. This event aims to strengthen methodological skills in research design and fundraising, promoting high-impact research in Mozambique.
This workshop is part of joint efforts by IGC-LSE and partners to strengthen research capacity in Mozambique, promoting rigorous and evidence-based research to respond to the country's development challenges. The event provides intensive training in research design and causal inference, addressing methodologies such as Randomised Experiments (RCT), Difference-in-Differences (DiD), Instrumental Variables (IV), Matching, Regression Discontinuity Design (RDD) and Natural Experiments.
The workshop agenda includes:
- Introduction to the role of the IGC-LSE in promoting evidence-based research in Mozambique.
- Definition and structuring of good research questions aligned with public policy challenges in Mozambique.
- Fundamentals of causal inference and selection of appropriate methodologies for different contexts.
- Exploration of quantitative approaches, including RCT, DiD, IV, Matching, RDD and Natural Experiments.
- Strategies for developing competitive research proposals, with a focus on IGC-LSE calls.
- Practical application of methodologies and interactive discussions on participants' research projects.
