Evidence for growth: Unlocking female and youth economic participation in Jordan (event postponed)

This closed-door dissemination event convenes senior policymakers and leading researchers to present consolidated evidence from IGC Jordan’s labour market research portfolio on female and youth economic participation. The convening aims to support evidence-based labour market reforms aligned with Jordan’s Economic Modernisation Vision.

Jordan continues to face persistent labour market challenges, including low female labour force participation and high youth unemployment, which constrain productivity and inclusive economic growth. Addressing these challenges is central to Jordan’s Economic Modernisation Vision, which prioritises private sector–led job creation and expanded economic opportunities for women and young people. In response, the International Growth Centre (IGC) Jordan convenes this closed-door dissemination event to share consolidated findings from its labour markets research portfolio and support evidence-informed policymaking.

The event presents insights from multiple IGC-supported research projects examining key barriers to employment, including workplace amenities such as childcare and transportation, access to quality jobs, job matching frictions, and social and structural constraints affecting women and youth. Discussions focus on how these factors shape employment outcomes in Jordan and what policy levers can most effectively support female economic participation, youth employment, and firm-led job creation.

Bringing together senior policymakers, leading international academics, and development partners, the event centres on translating rigorous research into practical policy dialogue. By presenting a synthesis of evidence aligned with national reform priorities, the convening supports ongoing efforts to design, prioritise, and implement labour market reforms that promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
