Policy and research dialogue on emerging priorities for sustainable growth in Indonesia

Past Event Mandarin Oriental Ballroom, Jakarta From to Sustainable Growth

Join the International Growth Centre (IGC), in collaboration with the National Economic Council (DEN) and Institute for Economic and Social Research at the University of Indonesia (LPEM UI), for an interactive, full-day workshop exploring how high-integrity carbon pricing, digital social protection, and innovation-led industrial policy can support Indonesia’s sustainable development agenda.

Workshop structure

This full-day workshop brings together policymakers, academics, researchers, and donors to identify and address Indonesia’s emerging priorities for sustainable growth. Through keynote remarks, policy dialogues, and academic presentations, the event promotes actionable policy–research partnerships to support Indonesia’s sustainable and inclusive development agenda.

The event is structured around three priority themes, with interactive panel discussions and the opportunity for audience Q&A

  • The opening session on Carbon Pricing and International Carbon Markets explores how Indonesia can design and implement high-integrity carbon pricing mechanisms that respond strategically to global cross-border initiatives, support a just decarbonisation pathway, and mobilise climate finance from nature-based solutions.
  • The second session on Digitalisation for Social Protection discusses how digital systems can strengthen targeting and delivery of social programs while ensuring the inclusion of vulnerable groups.
  • The final session on Industrial Policy considers how Indonesia can pursue an innovation and productivity-led development strategy that promotes firm upgrading, creates better jobs, and builds the skills and institutional foundations for a greener, more resilient growth path.
