Virtual Policy Roundtable: Climate, Fragility, and Policy Pathways in Yemen & Somalia
The State Fragility Initiative at the International Growth Centre (IGC), the Sana’a Center for Strategic Studies, and the Institute of Climate and Environment (ICE) at Simad University (Mogadishu) invite you to a closed-door virtual policy roundtable exploring how climate resilience can be effectively integrated into fragile contexts in Yemen and Somalia.
The session will share evidence from recent IGC policy briefs examining the climate–fragility nexus, elevate local perspectives through expert reflections from Yemen and Somalia, surface cross‑country lessons that highlight shared challenges and emerging opportunities, and collaboratively develop policy pathways focused on climate adaptation, institutional strengthening, and effective coordination.
The roundtable will help to generate a shared understanding of climate–fragility dynamics in Yemen and Somalia, produce practical policy recommendations tailored to both contexts, establish a collaboration framework to support joint research, technical assistance, and policy engagement, and set in motion a follow‑up mechanism to sustain ongoing dialogue and knowledge exchange among participating institutions.
The State Fragility Initiative, the Sana’a Center for Strategic Studies, and the Institute of Climate and Environment (ICE) at Simad University (Mogadishu) will hold this policy roundtable on the 28th of January 1pm GMT (4pm AST).
