What we fund

The IGC has received 1,219 applications, and funded 323 research projects through its past 5 commissioning boards. Approximately 26% of all applications were funded, either wholly or partially.

Applications that are empirically rigorous, relevant to growth policy, and have strong value for money are strongly favoured. While there is no set guideline for funding amount, the IGC generally approves projects in the £5,000 – £200,000 window. The average value commissioned is about £50,000.

The IGC will not fund projects that are a) purely qualitative, b) not grounded in sound economics research principles, or c) relevant only to middle- or high-income countries. Please use the drop downs below to view details on the projects IGC funded through its last call for proposals.
