In Ghana, a quarter of the population lives by the sea, along its 550 kilometre coastline, including in the Volta region. Fishing communities that once thrived, now battle significant coastal erosion due to the effects of climate change. Ahead of World Ocean Day (8 June 2025), we speak with the Chief Fisherman of Salakope, to understand how this is impacting lives and livelihoods.
