IGC appoints Professor Parikshit Ghosh as new Editor-in-Chief for Ideas for India

The International Growth Centre (IGC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Parikshit Ghosh as the new Editor-in-Chief for Ideas for India (I4I), IGC’s key platform for contributing to the policy discourse in India.  

With the full support of I4I’s Editorial Board, Prof Ghosh succeeds founding Editor-in-Chief Prof Ashok Kotwal who sadly passed away in April 2022. Prof Ghosh, a Professor at the Delhi School of Economics, has been serving as Acting Editor-in-Chief in the interim and brings a wealth of expertise in economics and policy issues in India.  

“Professor Ghosh is widely respected for his penetrating analyses of economic policy issues, informed by a deep understanding of the latest research. We are delighted he has accepted this important appointment,” said IGC Executive Director Jonathan Leape. 

Prof Ghosh received his PhD in economics from Boston University, and has taught at Texas A&M University, University of British Columbia, and the Indian Statistical Institute. His research focuses on game theory and information economics. He has written about contemporary policy issues in various Indian newspapers, including the Hindustan Times, Economic Times, and Anandabazar Patrika. 

As Editor-in-Chief, Prof Ghosh will be responsible for developing and implementing I4I’s overall strategy, including screening content, launching new initiatives, and soliciting contributions by suitable experts.  

The IGC has also appointed five members of the I4I Editorial Board as co-editors. The co-editors will work closely with the Editor-in-Chief, bringing a broad span of research and policy expertise and a strong shared commitment to the continued success of I4I. The new co-editors are:

Amartya Lahiri (Vancouver School of Economics, University of British Columbia) 

Dilip Mookherjee (Boston University)
