Abubakari Mohammed is pursuing a PhD in Development Economics at the University of Ghana and is interested in health and environmental economics, with experience in household surveys, inequality analysis, and applied policy research.
His IGC work focuses on the economic and environmental impacts of illegal small-scale mining or galamsey in Ghana, assessing how it affects livelihoods, public health, and agricultural productivity. The study brings together existing evidence to inform balanced policy approaches that can protect the environment while sustaining local employment and income generation.
