Andualem Telaye Mengistu (PhD) is a senior researcher at the Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI). Currently, he is the director of the macroeconomic division of EDRI.

He received his PhD from the Stockholm School of Economics. For his thesis he mainly focused on the workings of the monetary markets of developing countries and addressed such issues as whether the East African Community countries are ready to form a monetary union.

His current research interests are monetary policy in less developed monetary markets and tax systems in developing countries. In particular, he is currently working on the fiscal system in Ethiopia (especially the tax system), modelling inflation for the Ethiopian economy, and determinants of commodity prices.
